The deadlock between farmers from several states and the central government failed to end as the third round of talks remained inconclusive. The sources had said the government may amend the farm laws but, the protesting farmers remained adamant on the scrapping of the laws and not the amendments. The farmers said they want the farm laws to be withdrawn. The government has called for another round of talks and the two sides have agreed to meet again on December 9 (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, farmers’ leaders said they will carry on with the ‘Bharat Bandh‘ on December 8, as per plans. Thousands of farmers have camped at the border areas of Delhi, blocking roads to the national capital, in their protest against the farm laws. Shiv Sena extends support to Bharat Band, issues public appeal
On the day that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena extended support to the ongoing farmers’ agitation.
“If the farmers are holding a one-day bandh for their demands, then the people should voluntarily participate in the bandh and stand firmly behind their breadwinners,” a statement by Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said.
Lucknow farmers, traders to stage demonstrations on Monday
Traders and farmers have decided to stage a demonstration across mandis in Lucknow on Monday. This demonstration, scheduled for 11.30 am, is being seen as a rehearsal for the Bharat Bandh call on December 8.
