Masood Azhar’s kin Abdul Rauf was handler of 4 Jaish terrorists killed in Nagrota encounter

The group of 4 Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists who were killed in the Nagrota encounter on Thursday was being handled by Abdul Rauf Asgar, the brother-in-law of Jaish chief Masood Azhar.

The group of 4 Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists who were killed in the Nagrota encounter on Thursday was being handled by Abdul Rauf Asgar, the brother-in-law of Jaish chief Masood Azhar.

Apart from the huge cache of weapons and ammunition from the 4 slain terrorists, the Indian security forces also recovered Pakistan-made Q-mobile sets, Garmin handheld GPS systems and Pakistan-made handheld wireless sets.

Government sources have confirmed that the Jaish-e-Mohammed module was planning a major terror attack on the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Adamant to disturb peace in the Kashmir valley post the abrogation of Article 370, the responsibility of carrying out a terrorist attack bigger than the Pulwama attack was given to Jaish-e-Mohammed headed by Masood Azhar by Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Intelligence under its operational commander Abdul Rauf Asgar, top government sources told India Today TV.

The latest bid to carry out a bigger attack than the Pulwama suicide bombing which had led to the Balakot air strikes in 2019, was planned by the ISI along with Abdul Rauf Asgar, Qazi Tarar who was tasked to plan the attack.

Planning behind the Jaish terror plot

A meeting on this plan in Bahawalpur was attended by Maulana Abu Jundal and Mufti Tauseef of the Jaish terror network, said sources. After the initial planning, the Shakargarh unit of the Jaish was tasked with carrying out the final preparation, including selection of terrorists and their training.

The 4 terrorists killed in the Nagrota encounter received suicide attack training and also the drills to use maximum firepower to inflict maximum damage on Indian positions in the Kashmir valley.

The Jaish terrorists used the nullahs in the Samba sector across the border to infiltrate on the Indian side and were picked up in a truck near Jatwal 6 kms from Samba towards Kathua in Jammu division. Sources said interestingly, Jaish has used the same sector for infiltration around 3-4 am earlier as well.

    What happened in Nagrota

The Jaish-e-Mohammed terror training camp in Shakargarh in Pakistan is around 30 kms from the pickup point in terms of aerial distance. When the truck was intercepted at the Ban toll plaza by Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF troopers at 4.45 am on Thursday, the driver ran towards the dark while the terrorists hiding in the apple truck panicked and an encounter ensued.

The terrorists were raising slogans of Allah-O-Akbar, Islam Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad and Jaish Zindabad when they were asked to surrender by the security forces who made it clear that they had come to die on the Indian soil.

A huge cache of arms was recovered from the terrorists, including 11 AK rifles, 23 magazines, 29 grenades, 10 under barrel grenade launchers all made in Pakistan along with hand held Global Positioning Systems and CASIO watches with same time set for all terrorists.

As soon as the terrorists entered the Indian territory, they were in constant touch with the Abdul Rauf Asgar and handler in Kashmir including Muhammed Asgar Khan Kashmiri, who is the operational commander of Jaish in the Kashmir valley.

Sources said the level of planning and the massive amount of stored reserves recovered from the 4 terrorists suggest that the plan was to carry out an attack bigger than Pulwama and the alertness of security forces averted a major attack in the country.

The gunbattle between the Jaish group and Indian forces went on for 3 hours. The 4 terrorists were killed in the encounter while 2 policemen suffered injuries.

The truck, loaded with rice sacks, caught fire during the encounter. The bodies of the terrorists, hiding in a cavity within the truck, were recovered.
