Pune, 8th November 2023: The Patit Pavan Sanghatana in Pune has demanded the comprehensive inclusion of the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the curriculum textbooks of both the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) and CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) boards. The organization has submitted this demand to the Divisional Commissioner of Pune, District Collector and Education Commissioner.
According to the organization, the information and history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s accomplishments are currently absent from the syllabi of both ICSE and CBSE boards. The organization emphasizes the importance of learning from history and believes that the legacy and achievements of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should be shared with students.
The organization views the history of the Marathas as crucial and believes it should serve as a guide for current and future generations of Indians. They express their dismay that the syllabus includes the history of foreign cultures like Roman, French, and European history while not adequately covering India’s history. The organization commits to promoting the inclusion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s history in these educational boards’ curricula and warns of potential protests if necessary.
