Viman Nagar, 18th August 2021: A 59-year-old official of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was honey-trapped and blackmailed to give Rs 30 lakh. Now Pune Police have arrested four men and a search is going on to nab their woman accomplice.
As per the FIR registered with Vimantal police station, the complainant, a resident of Chandan Nagar, retired from the IAF in 2001. He runs a packaging business in the airport area.
According to police, the incident took place between August 12 and 16. A woman identifying herself as Arti Chaudhary had met him at a bank in Viman Nagar. She had taken his mobile number at the time. She had also asked for employment at the complainant’s firm but she was not hired. However, she continued to talk and chat with the complainant.
Police said that the complainant was lured to Narayangaon to meet the woman. She took him to an unknown place where her four accomplices also arrived. They threatened to kill the complainant with an axe alleging he had raped the woman. They demanded Rs 50 lakh to settle the matter and after a compromise, the complainant handed them three cheques of Rs 10 lakh each.
After returning to Pune, he filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday. The cops registered the case and arrested Narayan Sonya Jadhav, Anil Jyotiram Valmike, Dattatraya Kurade and Uttam Kanhuji Kurade, all residents of Alephata in Junnar taluka of Pune district. The woman accused in the case is absconding.
A similar incident had taken place in Kondhwa a few days ago and police have arrested all the accused in the case including the woman who had lured a builder from Panvel through social media.
