20th August 2021: A shocking case of robbing Rs 20 lakh by inviting a young man to meet a woman has come to light. The man had got acquainted with the woman through Instagram. The woman has been arrested by the Kondhwa police station in a similar case.
Based on a complaint from a 20-year-old youth from Manjari, who is into the nursery business, an FIR has been registered against nine people, including a woman, at Loni Kalbhor police station, under Pune city police, for threatening to file a case of rape and demanding Rs 50 lakh.
According to police, a woman introduced herself to the young man on Instagram on October 15 last year. They chatted for four days and she invited him to meet her at Uruli Kanchan. She had claimed that she was from Baramati. His friend arranged their night stay at a closed office after a lodge refused entry as the woman did not have an Aadhaar card with her. After physical relations around 3 am, the woman called her accomplices who beat him up, forcibly took Rs 3,000 from his wallet, and put him in a car with the intention of demanding ransom. They parked the cars in front of the Yavat police station and threatened to file a rape case if the complainant did not pay Rs 50 lakh.
At the end of the compromise, Rs 20 lakh was accepted from the complainant’s maternal uncle in the morning. The filing of the case was delayed due to fear of the youth and fear of stigma in society.
The FIR has been registered against the woman who had identified herself as Rohini Bhatulkar, Toufiq Shaikh, Mangesh Kankate, Shubham Kankate, Sairaj Kankate, Rituraj Kanchan, Bunty Amle and Pratik Landge.
In the last one week, similar cases have been registered with Kondhwa and Vimantal police stations. Rohini and some of her accomplices are arrested by the Kondhwa police.
